After reviewing a number of utility knives that I needed for several applications I had in mind that required a tool that was compact, easy to control, and relatively simple to keep as sharp as when new. During that process I had an opportunity to try an OLFA SPC-1, and the choice made itself. Everything I was looking for in a very functional, handy, and handsome tool, and I was sold -

These are an excellent choice however, they are not the same as the older version. There isn't a huge amount of difference but the tip of the newer one seems more reinforced and rigid and the locks on the slide are not as smooth to work with. Still the best option for this type of knife I'll just have to get used to the newer style if I lose the last of my old ones. -
